The huge puffy helmets are crazy looking, but who knows if they might be game-day equipment in future years.
They should start practice at 6AM. The heat is crazy.

Re: QMB enters the transfer portal
Also surprised. He seemed to have found his role. Perhaps it was an academic decision although I thought he was committed to Vandys ME program.

Do Metrics Control, or, Does NET = Moneyball
It seems to me that Vandy in/out is a strict test of whether the committee really lets the NET control or not. There's no way that if you go from the gut and/or take a "holistic" view that you leave Vandy out. But if you hew to the numbers strictly it seems clear we are out. Hence I think ...

Is Stute's defense worth it?
Stute went 1/11 last night including 1/8 from 3. If he had shot just in the 30-40% range that would have added about 8 points, and we would have had our foots on LSU's throat instead of having them linger til almost the end. I don't know what has happened to his shot, but his shots aren't going down...

Re: Um, wow?
If we finish the year 4-1 we will be 18-13 / 13-6 and will have won 8 of last 10. I don't see how that doesn't make us a bubble team if there is any consideration for how you are playing recently. It might take 5 wins to make it if we were to lose our tournament opener but if we go 1-1 in the tourna...

They should cap it at ticket proceeds from that game. Quarter mil is ridiculous.

Guess how much the Alabama coach made 20 years ago?
I happened to see an article about the retirement of former Alabama coach Mike Dubose. He has been coaching high school ball for a few years in Alabama. Out of curiosity I looked up how much he was making when he was fired in 2004. $525,000. Saban currently makes a base of almost $10,000,000. Now th...

Re: Mike Wright in the transfer portal
Wright did exceptionally well again lower competition. I can see him going to a Furman or similar and enjoying himself. I do hope that he goes somewhere where the degree is high value. I will be disappointed if he trades his vandy degree for one from North Alabama or UTEP.

If his dream is the NFL then if he can land at a higher tier school and start, which I think he could, this is a good move for him.

The official nail in the season
Per this story, we don't even have the dream of bowling as a 5-7 team: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-power-rankings-michigan-rises-to-no-2-south-carolina-jumps-into-top-15-oregon-tumbles/?fbclid=IwAR2VBtLRK6zY9xG-ZScfJNbGvw3vcfcXA-cOBisD65a4aKYWnY43ADS1xJs For the ...

I thought about Virginia tech too. That would have been an interesting game and a nice makeup for them.

2005 win over UT to break the streak.
2008 Music City Bowl after years of losing seasons.
These are clearly the top two wins in the last 40 years.

Re: Vegas says…
Despite everything I can't say that a line lower than we had against Florida is outlandish. In the end uts strength is the long throw, which is our very weakness. I don't see that we can score enough to make up for the big plays I think we'll give up. Hope I'm wrong.

In a world where we are trying to make a college degrees more practical I don't mind the core shrinking some although I would object to shrinking the writing requirement. Nobody can write anymore.

Re: Gators hate cold weather
The 2008 bowl was pretty cold. I also remember a November game against UK around 1997 when it was about 35 degrees but there was a steady 25mph wind.

Re: Florida opens as 15-point favorite
Sure, they could beat us by 15. I wouldn't be knocked out of my chair if they beat us by 25. Sometimes our wheels come off. But are we as likely to lose by 15+ as less than 15? I don't think so. I'd put the number closer to 11. Our run defense has really improved and so has our ability to defend the...

Re: Vandy-Kentucky game thread
Kentucky going for two was a mistake because if they made it they'd be up six and if we got a touchdown we would be winning and if they missed it which they did if we get a touchdown if they come back with a fuel goal they only tie us. If they had kick the extra point then if we get a touchdown they...
