Re: Unofficial chatter
That’s true but high school seniors and JUCOs can increasingly be treated as last resorts.

Re: Unofficial chatter
It hurts high school and juco players as well. Why recruit those guys when you can find players who have already been in a D1 program w the weight training and training table advantages?

Re: 21st Century Teams
Ogilvy gets a bad rap for not meeting sky high expectations. He was a finished product when he got here and he gets penaltized for that. I feel Luke was our best all around C since 2000 but I put AJ next above Festus.

Re: The 3 incoming transfers
This is a great looking group of newcomers (HS signees included). Lot of versatility. The big guys can shoot and the guards can rebound. Ven-Allen Lublin looks to be an exception to that rule but sounds like an athletic hustle player in the mold of James Siakam. Feeling optimistic.

Re: Stackhouse
OK I'll go first in ranking our top 5 coaches: 1. Skinner 2. Fogler 3. Stackhouse 4. Newton 5. Stallings 1. Skinner 2. Stallings 3. Fogler (as much as we loved him, Billy Mac and co. had a lot to do with that one season. Look at those two first round turds with SC) 4. Stackhouse (for now, although ...

Re: Stackhouse
I think frustration with Stackhouse is in large part a reflection of the frustration with the programs itself and the growing angst that maybe our best days are behind us. The downhill slide started at the end of Stallings, nose dived under Drew and has been struggling to get its head above water si...

Re: Tyrin is OFFICIALLY back
My son transferred from one college to the other, and there weren't stories in the paper about it. No one cares when a biosystems engineering student transfers, even though I understand they make decent money. Did he ever run into a student name BethAnne Rhozhaski? Man you are 1000% committed to ma...

I get the frustration but I can also understand Lawrence’s perspective.
As someone else stated, this could serve as a wake up call to VU that they need to step up their NIL funding if they want to remain competitive.

Re: OT: Kentucky's Will Levis
While I agree with the sentiment here - I don’t necessarily agree with the negativity. Both Levis and Richardson present uncertainties. Levis is a very good player - with very good skills. He also lacks some skills - which means he requires a fit. Give him a good line and receivers and coach Jim th...

I think Levis’ problems could be largely corrected w good coaching, not to mention better health and surrounding cast.

Re: Vandy’s actual approach to NIL
Sounds like you better get used to Vanderbilt being a farm team for the rest of the conference.
I’m sure we’re not alone here. Colllege sports is about to be boiled down to a handful of haves pretty soon, more so than it is already.
Feels like the beginning of the end of major college sports.

Re: Tyrin Lawrence reportedly entering the transfer portal
NIl but I imagine it’s not easy to play for Stackhouse. He’s an intense dude and you can’t bs him either. He was a tough player that would fight a guy if he had to. Kids seem less inclined to play for a coach like that these days. Saw it w Stallings and his Gene Keady like personality. Some kids app...

Re: Tyrin Lawrence reportedly entering the transfer portal
Maybe it’s just me, but all these academic juniors leaving one year shy of a VU degree just seems shortsighted. I know that to some extent the quality of a degree is limited by your career goals. If you don’t plan to continue in academia in pursuit of an advanced degree, then a degree from another ...

Re: Tyrin Lawrence reportedly entering the transfer portal
Seems obvious to me that some colleges are gonna flood the NIL market w money and some aren’t. This is capitalism at its finest. I wouldn’t bet on Vanderbilt spending what it’ll take to be competitive. I’m gonna expect this every season from now until they reform this system a bit. Even if there’s n...

Re: Thoughts on Vandy's spring game: Lots of goods and bads
It’s pretty typical for the defense to be ahead of the offense during the spring. Offense takes a lot more coordination than defense.

I sure hope a NIT quarter final appearance isn’t the high point of the Stackhouse era.

Re: My take on the UAB game........
UAB was a good team and they were quick on the perimeter and big inside. Athletes all over the court. The center looked like David Robinson and really exposed the lack of Robbins. Their guards had quick hands and were able to stay in front of Majon in large part. Lawrence was off most of the night b...

Another painful memory: Had Vanderbilt beat Temple in ‘93, they would have faced Michigans vaunted Fab Five in the next round.

Re: Wow the NIT disrespects Vanderbilt too
They just need to add another round to the tournament. The first four got them down the road, just make it 128 teams and be done w it.
