Not exactly sure how a Rutgers or ASU, with poorer anticipated records and schedules, rate as good or better than VU.

I call biased BS on this TA ratings.

Re: 2023 Predict the Season Contest

I'll go slightly optimistic because I like Coach Lea's approach.

I'll say we win 3 conference games and manage to sweep the non-con's. So 7-5 baby!!

1A - 3
1B - Kentucky, Mizzou and Auburn

2A - 0 (a rare sweep)
2B - n/a

I was at the UT- Vandy game in 1986. What a comeback. Just like this one, everything fell into place for Vanderbilt. Never give up! So was I, in the student section. What a moment! The quintessential Memorial Magic moment. It is always the memory I return to whenever Vandy comes back to win a game.

Re: Yale

Someone really needs to teach this team how to put a butt on someone and block out on the defensive end. If it weren't for Yale's bad FT shooting down the stretch, we might not have won this one. It was pleasant to watch a basketball team displaying the fundamentals.....too bad it wasn't Vandy. This...

Well......that was a colossal setback.

It will take an equally colossal effort to make up for it.

I hope the boys are up to it.

Re: What is the ceiling now

... Any likely path to the dance would have to include a win against UT I would think. After that we have a lot of games against good teams but none that are great like Bama or UT. Auburn is the only team that is close to being ranked outside of those two, though UK could get there (but is one of t...

55, and just arrived on campus as Coach C.M. Newton was getting the Bomb Squad on line. Been through many highs and lows since; the disastrous A.D. Holihan era, watching Billy Mac bring us to unexpected heights, the Ron Mercer debacle, Coach Stallings' ups and downs, and the lowest point CBD took us...

Re: Starters have 3 points*

The game announcers noted that UT's coach Barnes had a similar player rotation, in that several of their key players were not in the starting lineup.

Maybe it's not so unusual in today's game??

Re: Military Bowl...Duke vs. UCF

There is apparently a move afoot to overhaul the bowl game structure, including tightening eligibility for bowls and possibly eliminating some of them: https://www.si.com/college/2022/12/28/bowl-system-eyeing-sweeping-overhaul. But that is foolishly naive, for this reason alone: In 2021, bowl games...

Re: CJS on Jim Rome podcast today

Well, with an OOC RPI of #178 against a #110 ranked schedule, I don't really think CJS can blame the schedule for the team's overall performance. Whether you want to point to overall talent or coaching being the more likely culprit, well, that's up to you.

I will not understand why Wright didn't even try throwing downfield. You cannot be that one-dimensional, ignoring their defensive weakness, and expect to win.

Poor, POOR gameplan.

Re: Florida's D-line coach is Sean Spencer, former Poach assistant

I think OL line coach Herb Hand was just as missed as SS, maybe not for his rousing rhetoric as much as for coaching up the OL players.

I would say HH was able to do more with less compared to SS.
