Re: James Strong named as new assistant coach

Heck of a competitor. I once came across him crying in a hallway because his team had lost a game during the summer league at MBA.

Love the story about LeBlanc.

Re: Stackhouse

CKS was an excellent coach Xs and 0s and should rank high on this list. I think most of his problems stemmed from going from coaching at a Gene Keady philosophy level where there was a lot of tough love and discipline to an environment where he had to pamper certain individuals did not work out for ...

There might not be any 5 stars, but every one of these teams have some players who know how to ball.

Re: Stute into the portal

He lost his minutes and starting job to Colin Smith. He consistently went to sleep on defense and showed poor judgment in shot selection. I also wasn't a big fan of his behavior on court. If things went good for hime he had a tendancy to show his behind; if things were bad he sometimes chose to sulk...

Re: that sucked, but wasn't a complete surprise

So, for the sake of the precious NET, we need to play inferior opponents in the pre-conference and run the score up on them, and then go 8-10 in the conference, lose our first SEC tournament game, have a record of 20-11 and be sitting pretty on Selection Sunday.
Sounds like a plan to me!

Out. We're not a member of the BIG TEN.

On another subject, wonder why Marquette is never mentioned as a #1 seed? Watched them play several times and they look pretty good to me.

Studying all the predictions this morning, I see Vandy as a Last Four Out consensus. Several Last Four Ins have Mississippi State and Pittsburgh, both of whom we beat. I also see Arkansas and Auburn in as locks, two teams we beat and who--along with Mississippi St.--finished with losing records in t...

My days at Memorial go back to 1958 too, and Maravich was the best player I've seen play there.

Re: California Dreaming

Belmont leads the MVC in three point shooting--except when they play Drake. In two games this year, they are 2-32 against them. Belmont has held its own in its first year, but Drake and Bradley are the two elites in the conference. I'll be tuning in to watch the final regular season game between the...

72 at last count. Not a VU grad (Belmont) but did take a couple of classes at Peabody when it was a part of the University. My dad took me to games as a kid and my favorite players were Bill Depp, Bobby Bland, and John Russell. We used to go to the games early and watch the freshman team play with C...

December 1959 or so. We played Sewanee and it was something like 88-53. Bill Depp, John Russell and Bobby Bland, if I recall correctly.

That's a long time ago.

Upcoming trip

I wonder if there is a way we'll be able to find out any of the results of the team's upcoming trip? Just a box score and a short synopsis of the game would be fine with me. Anybody heard or know anything?

Chatman and Thomas

One thing that hasn't been mentioned-- does anyone think that Chatman may have perhaps been playing on one leg the past couple of games? He seemed dead on his feet both NIT games, and last night was uncharacteristically beaten on drives to the basket by Kunkel and others. My thought is he was playin...
