We may have the best set of coordinators we have had in a while.

I remember that one of the Michigan players commented after the game that they had expected more from Vandy's veer offense.

Re: Excerpts from the Strategic Plan

As Watson Brown used to say when he was the Vandy coach, "Talk is cheap." The vision statement presented--or whatever you might call it--is cheap talk until we see "shovels in the dirt." I hope we do.

Re: Darkest before the dawn

Someone I respect a lot who is on the VU faculty told me with significant emotion many years ago more or less that Vanderbilt would not become a minor league team for the NFL. He is fairly positive about athletics in general. I would assume that if he had such emotion, that there are many on campus ...

Heard MT blew off the Vandy Baseball banquet and the 1993 Basketball reunion this weekend to go to the Super Bowl. Hmmm!
Maybe the SB was a diversion and the venue for a job interview?

Re: Fairground Stadium Deal Unraveling?

Cooper really is a lot different than most of the mayors that precede him when it comes to big ticket items paid for by the taxpayers, so this doesn't surprise me at all... in fact, I predicted it when he got elected. I'll also continue to predict that before their 30-year lease runs out in 2028, t...

Mike's a proper fella. We didn't get him this time, but maybe there's a chance in the future.
It has been reported that he was interested in coaching in the SEC everywhere but Vanderbilt. Maybe that would change with improvements.

Re: Mike Leach in Starkpatch?

Reportedly Leach runs a clean program and graduates his players. He can win with lesser talent. His language may be a bit salty at times. Other than that, I'm not sure what kind of beef someone would have with his comportment. As far as I know, he's a family man. The problems he had at Texas Tech we...

Re: We Need Another #41 on Defense

Two observations about Zach - he is freakishly fast and strong, and he doesn't showboat when he makes a big play, his reaction is like "I'm just doing my job, like always." ZC is like the Teflon LB. He slides between blockers to make the tackle. The tackle on the QB looked eerily like his tackle to...

Re: Who actually believes the Gator-MCB version in the morning paper?

Version from the morning paper: “Nashville would have been a fantastic destination,” Fulmer said, but he added that he’s glad the Vols are headed to Jacksonville. “The conference commissioner (Greg Sankey), in the end, makes the decision and asked for our preferences,” Fulmer said. “We’ve been back...

Re: On Riley Neal

According to the TV announcers, the VU coach(es) (I guess GG, et al), went back and studied what Riley did well at Ball State. Then, put those things into the game plan. This kind of shows how far behind the curve our coaches have been this season. That is something they should have done before spri...

Re: Recruiting & season ticket Q???

The days of signing mostly 2s is over. I think I have read of star inflation. Maybe it is our increased profile on the SEC Network, etc.? The really good recruiting classes are liberally filled with 4-star recruits and an occasional 5. We mainly get 3s with an occasional 2 and 4. CJF would get sever...

Re: Best Case Scenario

I understand a weak offense when you have QB issues. This can happen to the powerhouse teams. What I don't understand is our woeful defense. After 6 years, CDM has such a pitiful defense. Why? After having listened to Bruno Reagan's podcast, I hope that the strength and conditioning coach is not thr...

Actually the other Norvell, (Jay) the one who coaches Nevada has had two winning seasons there out of three at a place that is a real nothing-burger historically for football plus he has been an assistant under Mike Ditka, Hayden Fry, Barry Alvarez, Jim Mora, Bob Stoops. Not many can say that. I'd ...

Andy Ludwig is a heck of a coach. I don't think he's head coach material, however. Ludwig doesn't appear to be a dynamic leader or recruiter. He is a very capable coordinator. Do we want to prove the Peter Principle all over again?

Re: If they were to fire Mason today

I still remember Steve Bowman breaking a long td run in the 2nd half of our game with Alabama in Nashville when we were leading 7-6. As they say the tide turned after that. Was this the game during the season when Bama ended up winning the national championship? The one where Chuck Boyd from Madiso...

Re: Mason: We'll stick to the process despite the noise

What I saw Saturday was a good outcome, a much improved offense and vastly improved defense, and a different team that somehow managed to show up. Kudos to both team and coaches for the transformation; let’s hope it lasts. I’m less sure about the “process,” whatever that means, and which we’ve been...

If you look at recruiting ratings of the starters for Vandy and Mizzou, you will see they are almost identical. Yet Mizzou will boat race us later today—unless something drastic has changed. Who is that on? Sounds like the coaching staff to me.

Let me be perfectly clear (and this is a very UNEMOTIONAL statement).... Mike Leach will NEVER, EVER be the head coach at Vanderbilt University. Stop spending your time on it.
Like it or not: fact.
