Re: When does Vandy get to their next bowl game?

I think 2024 would be the earliest that might happen. Schedule looks pretty tough next year. Then we'll see how scheduling works once UT and OU join the pack. Apparently every other SEC team is bowl eligible this year, so it seems the league is as strong as ever. I'm not sure I would expect it in 20...

Re: We have a game in 4 days and....

I don't have any inside information that the average fan wouldn't have, but I just appreciate your post and didn't want to leave you hanging. I'm pretty excited for this season. I'd like to see a bit of development in the role players/"supporting cast". I think Jordan Wright can be a good ...

Re: David Shaw Tuesday 9/14 press conference pre-Vanderbilt

I think the only thing I agree with him on is that Stanford is the best academic school of the bunch. There may be some recruits who choose Stanford over the other 3 because of that reason but I can think of so many better reasons to pick a school to play at apart from it being marginally better tha...

Awesome to see it. Between Diakite and Zunk does this have Simmons’ fingerprints on it?

Re: Updated Schedule????????

Saw on twitter that Georgia State posted their schedule and will be coming to Hawkins for a series Feb. 26 - 28.

Also, Georgia State has a ridiculous OOC schedule, playing 5 SEC East teams as well as a bunch of other solid teams.

Is this a permanent rule change, or just something for the shortened season?

Kind of reminds me of college football overtime where you start the drive from the 25 already.

Re: Tim Corbin extremely underpaid!

Sparks wrote an article roughly a year ago stating that Corbs was the best paid coach of the 8 in Omaha at 1.3 million and better paid than at least 11 MLB managers. Some people may not like how Corbs is compensated, but I assume he negotiated his base pay and bonuses and agreed to a contract. Relat...

Re: Next season's team

Hilboki was nothing short of amazing. Look for him to do great things. Absolutely. I feel like he was overshadowed a bit by Leiter's dominance and name recognition but he was nigh unhittable. I know it was a pretty small sample size but if Hliboki is even 75% of what he showed in 2020 he's going to...

Re: SI: "Vanderbilt Baseball Commit Robert Hassell III Has A Decision To Make"

With the MiLB in turmoil at the moment, does Vandy start to look like the more attractive option? Of course I think it is a pretty attractive option to go to Vandy at any time, but there's the real possibility he doesn't see the field for a full year at the very least. I don't know what his birthday...

I love this video, especially the first homerun. That ball gets mashed basically before they can even get the scoreboard graphic up!

... the key stories have nothing to do with when and how the draft will be handled; when and where exhibition or regular season games will begin. This is the important stuff per https://www.mlb.com/news/ Remember the other Frank Thomas? The lefty Pedro? Check out these same-name doppelgangers. Best...

Re: Corbin!

He is a treasure for VU, totally apart from his coaching & team success. I hope at some point the university recognizes him in a way that reflects that. For better or worse, I think the man is too humble to allow the university to honor him to the extent that he deserves, which in my opinion, i...

Re: Mitch Light's oral history of Worth Scott's HR vs. UT in 2003

I’ve watched the video of this homerun 2-3 times and I just want to confirm, was Corbin wearing #4 since he got here? If so that’s a very young Tim Corbin dogpiling with his kids on home plate and shaking his hat while he yells at the crowd! I’ve watched the man win two National Championships and I ...

Re: April 7th Interview with Mike Baxter

Fairly off topic but I’m sitting up watching Johan Santana’s no-hitter for the Mets in 2012 on SNY and Baxter makes a heck of a saving catch in I think the 7th off of Yadier Molina. Gets hurt crashing into the wall on the play but still makes the catch and saves the no-hitter. Glad he’s on board, fe...

I’m not a subscriber so I can’t read it or participate. I’m curious what happens to the volunteer coaches during this time? I may be mistaken but I thought they get paid a small stipend during the season. Does anyone know if volunteer coaches usually get any sort of payment and if that continues in ...

What an utter mess this is. I can’t see any path to making this work for everyone. Feel bad for the guys who will miss out on getting paid if this actually happens. The silver lining I hope for is that kids can benefit from earning their degree or getting a grad degree if forced to stay. How did sch...

Re: Some players you may never see play again at VU

According to the internet, Kumar's birthday is 11/22/99, which I believe means he will not be draft eligible as he will not be 21 until after the draft. I think this is right because I've read A. Martin can go 1-1 this year and Rocker has a chance at it next year.

Re: Opener v Michigan

I hope it’s Rocker because I’d love to see him pitch live, but like you I think it’ll most likely be Hickman. The other consideration is since we’re playing three different teams that weekend, does a certain pitcher have an advantage against a certain team’s lineup?

I too am booked for Phoenix and wish February would get here sooner! A look at vucommodores.com shows us playing Michigan Friday, UConn Saturday, and Cal Poly Sunday. I'll definitely be there for the rematch with Michigan and hopefully the game against a usually pretty solid UConn team. I'll likely ...
