Re: waking up 2-0

One thing that bothered us was all the pre snap shifting A&M was doing, I will be honest that is tough to execute and difficult to execute against especially on the OL where much communication is involved. I thought offensively in the first half we went "freeze" cadence too much where...

Re: waking up 2-0

I caught that reference too. I laughed out loud when the announcer said it! It was definitely a reference to gamblers.

waking up 2-0

Midway through last night's game things were not looking particularly encouraging. I thought back to all those years when the SEC made us open with a league opponent. Dreams died early in many of those seasons. I am glad we got to open with four out of conference games this year. While we have set t...

Re: Vandy-Alabama A&M thread

And another short, sure toss for a TD. 47-10.

Much better.

Credit to the offensive brain trust - they righted the ship at half. Now they just have to trust the stuff that works going forward.

I love that play for Seals. Roll out - short, sure. 35 yards for Sherrill.

Nice return by Hight.

We are improving our speed.

Special teams have won their battles in weeks one and two.

Re: Vandy-Alabama A&M thread

I do feel much better at 40-10. The 12-3 half was largely self-inflicted, but A&M played hard. They are clearly running out of gas.

I hope we can get some subs in - and remain focused.

Re: Vandy-Alabama A&M thread

Not running up the middle all the time is making all our runners look better.

Alexander has had particular success (and two tds) running wide.

Re: Vandy-Alabama A&M thread

ok - much better performance on offense in the second half.

Nice run by Alexander there. Good to see.

Swann now 15-29 for 194 yards. The play calling matters.

And once you establish you can move the ball - the d has more to worry about and everything gets easier.

Re: Vandy-Alabama A&M thread

We go bomb to McGowan on third and 9 and never look at wide open curl. Way too much emphasis on the deep ball. These will be picked by SEC safeties too - hard to know if that was Swann or Lynch. But it seems Swann is being encouraged to look deep. He is locking in and missing some real opportunities...

Re: Vandy-Alabama A&M thread

Unbelievable. A&M scores in a flash.

No one close to their receiver on that one. They go for 1, so it is still a two score game.

Re: Vandy-Alabama A&M thread

That was better. TD. Three easy throws. A pitch wide. A jet sweep.

We look a lot sharper when our play caller calls what we can execute.

In many ways, we can be our own. worst enemy. I wonder if someone talked to Lynch at half, or he figured it out himself?

Re: Vandy-Alabama A&M thread

If Lynch is so desperate to get the ball to our speedsters, use the jet sweep. And then fake the jet sweeps - and throw the other way. We aren't even trying to use play action. The RPO is awkward when Swann doesn't run much and we have trouble running up the middle. It means the P is coming - and th...

Re: Vandy-Alabama A&M thread

Our offense earned under 150 yards against A&M in the first half.
