a little less positive vibe - but still seeing progress
The loss of Liam Robbins for a month is a crushing blow to this team's chance of making actual noise. I think they could have - before the injury we were playing really well, coming at people in waves and looking dangerous. This, of course, opens the door for Dort and Dia to get the playing time man...

Re: a few positive vibes
I am prepared to be pleasantly surprised. We have one and hope for at least 5 more. Every one we get from here on out will be most welcome. Assuming that this comes to pass we end up with a 6-12 SEC record and no post season. That in my mind would be completely unacceptable if we are seeing similar...

Re: a few positive vibes
Just to be clear: I think your fears are entirely justified. At bottom, this team is a bit frustrating because we seem to lose focus when ahead, and frequently fall behind so we are digging out of a hole. Because we had so few laughers, and some health issues, the young guys did not get in the mix e...

a few positive vibes
I am not getting carried away with our SEC win. I know the rest of the SEC slate will be difficult. At the same time, it is refreshing to see the team improve - which it certainly has done lately. Manjon is a really good player - and floor general. Lawrence is also developing solidly. Both of these ...

Aaron Henry - new DC at Illinois
I watched Illinois’ defense play a really inspired game against Mississippi State. I was most impressed with their young corners and secondary. They played very aggressively. The defense shifted in and out of coverages. It was a bit of a clinic - even if in a losing effort. Imagine my surprise to re...

Re: Happy New Year - and a reminder about the Big Ten
While I typically think you’re pretty objective and on target Roanoke, I have to admit you seem off base here. That 2nd quarter Michigan catch called down on the half yard line was a touchdown and a blown call. Ohio State could have / should have made the field goal to win. We very easily could be ...

Re: Happy New Year - and a reminder about the Big Ten
Bowl games used to be a decent measure of strength of conference. Not any more. Half the draftable players skip the bowl games - and the SEC has most of the stud draftees. Florida and UK played without their critical qbs, for example. It’s a new era. I’m not saying the SEC was at its best this year....

Happy New Year - and a reminder about the Big Ten
Happy New Year to all!!! Around this time of year I usually post a reminder that the talking heads always talk up the Big Ten - and that the conference is annually overrated. The “game of the century” heralded by Fox Sports between Michigan and Ohio State was really an SEC game of the week. And not ...

Re: Grambling Thread
That was really pretty ugly. That is no insult to Grambling. They played hard and well. Not a really good job by Stack. I am a Stack fan - but many questionable decisions tonight. He pulled Manjon I presume to teach him a lesson - he got the lesson instead. With a 3 point lead and 2 minutes left - y...

just wondering
As an out-of-towner, I don’t always catch stories that are sidelights to actual team performance. Was there any league response to Stack’s post-game comments about the officiating at VCU? Since an SEC ref was involved, I assumed a fine might be forthcoming? I’m still glad he let those bums have it. ...

Re: Orji and Davis
This would be the best possible sign that Coach Lea is turning the corner. Absolutely huge, if true.
Several others - Hernandez and Mahoney - have also indicated they are coming back - so, there is some hope.

Re: Game Tonight.....VCU
Win or lose, this is the type of game that brings a team together.
My favorite part of this one is - Manjon has really shown what he can do. Very solid. Getting hit constantly. Keeping his composure, staying aggressive.

Good. Stack did right.
These refs deserve to get blasted. They have been ridiculously one sided.

Re: Game Tonight.....VCU
I’m sorry. This is an unusually biased ref crew.
Stack needs to lay into them.
Deloach bitches after every foul. No call. Robbins gets a t for indicating he got hit in the head?

That was a really good stretch of basketball.
Stute, Manjon and Robbins playing some ball.
QMB and Thomas making a 5 VCU is challenged to defend.
