Re: Thoughts about Vandy's QB situation

You are pretty kind to CDM here, Brent. And perhaps that is best. But I will pile on a little bit. 2014 was a tragic season - and we were loaded at qb. We just asked them to do ridiculous things - and punished them for not standing in the pocket and getting leveled. If we had used the talent we had ...

Re: All I'll say

There was very little margin for error with this team. It could not afford to lose Brown - let alone Brown and Nesmith. If Nesmith comes back next year, we will be good next year. We still will not be great without a big who can stand up in SEC play. Ironically, I think Stack was making good progres...

In each NFL Divisional Playoff this weekend

a Vandy player represented.

There are a pretty good number of Dores in the league these days.

SEC/Big Ten Review

Pre-bowl season, there was a bit of a debate on whether the Big Ten hype was justified or not. Many talking heads suggested the Big Ten was a “gauntlet” and Ohio State’s navigation of the gauntlet justified a 1-seed. As it turned out: the Big Ten went 4-5 in bowls. Bowl games are not always indicati...

quietly, San Diego State

The Aztecs are undefeated, really good and Yanni Wetzel is showing out very nicely. Logging 25 minutes a game and double figure points for arguably one of the best teams in the country.

He was another very good player more or less wasted by the prior regime.

Re: Is Clevon injured?

He clearly got hurt very late in the Liberty game.

Tried to play through it. Leg issue.

We really needed him tonight too.

my last comment on this -

Again, twisting. You said they had 10 wins over bowl teams. Count again. Nebraska is 5-7, Northwestern 3-9, Rutgers 2-10, Maryland 3-9. If 4 opponents are not bowl teams out of 13 games - they didn’t win 10 - no matter how many times you count Wisconsin. But my point is the big ten schedule itself w...

Re: Final four strength of schedule rankings

It's not blind allegiance. The SEC schedule LSU played was much harder than the Big Ten schedule that OSU played. Accept it. OSU was not challenged all year until the championship game they yawned through (after whipping Wisconsin 38-7 the first game - a game i watched and was left totally underwhel...

Re: computers don't have eyes, people do

yes - but that's also why sometimes computers aren't that smart. One gimme game to let the fifth string play a little hurts with a computer - even if you've played Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Florida and massacred ranked teams like Texas A&M. And playing eight "decent" teams that can't possibly...

Re: Arkansas hires Sam Pittman as new head coach

Interesting hire. He is a really good o-line coach.

And recruiter.

May bring a five-star o-line with him.

I understand the “identity statement“ - still it is a large risk considering the lack of HC experience & the hole they are already in...

Re: Missouri to hire Eli Drinkwitz, App State head coach

The thing to notice is NC State went to seed quickly when he left.

It is a bit risky - but I hate to say, I think a very good hire.

Re: standard refrain...

You’re changing the subject - and missing the point. The comparison is LSU - who beat Texas in Texas, plus the SEC west, plus Florida & Georgia. Far better than OSU’s tough games. The topic is: if you know your conference is weak, go schedule some SEC games - like Clemson does. I respect that. Bama ...

Re: standard refrain...

What we have - as xCJF said - is the closest conference to the NFL. Since we’ve chosen to be in it, the conference might as well get credit for it. Let OSU and Bama trade schedules & see what happens. Rutgers, Maryland, Northwestern, Ohio U for 9 games - then the “gauntlet“ of washed up Michigan & W...

Re: standard refrain...

Michigan and Wisconsin would be Mississippi State in the SEC west. Penn State is pretty good. I’d be happy to watch Georgia and Florida and Bama play any big ten team. I’m not saying OSU is bad - but the toughness of their league is a myth. Meanwhile, LSU plays @Texas o-o-c plus the SEC west grind. ...

standard refrain...

The Big Ten seemingly has its PR department running full throttle these days to convince the world that its football is top of the line. It isn’t. But by posturing the Michigan’s and Wisconsin’s and Minnesota’s of the world as top 10 teams - they try to overstate Ohio State’s accomplishments. So the...

He is good offensive coordinator material.

As I recall, their season was decimated by a qb injury or two?

Also, I would not be shocked to see Holtz move up the ladder....

Re: Jennings 1/2 game suspension

It is easy to be dismissive of this penalty. But i will say a few things about it: the league office did not let it go as many of us prophesied; it is being treated as a targeting penalty - which is probably a bit light... but I get it, assuming he did not play again after the incident. but it also ...

Re: Remember

I was struck by CJS’ comments after the Tulsa game. He commented that it was good for the team to face a gritty opponent like Tulsa that was good at what they do. He was not worried about the loss - as much as the growth and development of the squad- a really good, long-term attitude by a guy who re...
