Re: SI: Stay or Go? "With NBA Draft Deadline Looming, These Players Face Pivotal Decisions"

Agree. I would love to have him back - and Lee does not deserve the abuse he receives either. He moved to shooting guard - played well there and then suddenly found himself back at point in an offense where there was no flow and no desire for flow. It was a horrible situation for both players - and ...

Re: SIMI NEWS

I believe that there were reports of Simi improving his "stock" - i.e. some Atlanta Hawks scribe wrote a story on him and some outlets listed him as getting mock-drafted in the second round. But I do not think these sources were particularly informed insiders - and the info floated from the combine ...

Re: Does Memphis’s haul affect us?

they got the Arkansas-LR point guard that was the #1 grad transfer - Rayjon Tucker. yet, at the same time they have another pg and are trying to recruit pg Boogie Ellis at the same time. It is an embarrassment of riches - but also a practical consideration. There are not enough minutes to please eve...

Does Memphis’s haul affect us?

Memphis just landed the most coveted grad transfer point guard in addition to the rest of its impressive recruiting haul. At some point some of the point guards they are after have to think about minutes . We are after some of the same guys...

Re: SIMI

I think the point is - he would benefit from the existence of a pure point guard. And that is part of the return/leave equation. He was a 15/10 first-rounder while Garland was getting him the ball in position to score all the time - and defenses were scrambling to cover our star pg rather than clogg...

Re: question

I am disappointed too. but a guy with his talent does not usually fall off a cliff unless he is hurt. I could see Coach giving him more mid-week opportunities if he were healthy. The truth is - he has been borderline unhittable in the past. He was particularly good in some of those short series NCAA...

So you’re saying he’s healthy?

By June, we could use him.

Re: Give us your honest opinion about Simi Shittu's next step

It's tough. I think he will leave. He would be better off staying. Much better off. And so would we. He would need to buy into what CJS is selling. He would need to believe that his game is far from ready - after being told the opposite for years. But it's true, he is nowhere near ready for the NBA ...

Re: LaDarius Wiley?

He is a good, hard-hitting safety.

Various folks commented frequently all year that our safeties were positioned so deep & conservatively, it stopped them from making plays. No one exploited this more than Baylor. I think it cost him. Maybe it will lead to re-analysis of the scheme...

and the Giants use the 6th pick for a guy they could have had in the 2nd round. In fact, Lock is still available. They pass on Josh Allen and Oliver. I am wondering why wr AJ Brown has fallen so far in mock drafts. He is better than Metcalf to my eye. He will be a steal at some point. Several highly...

observation

There has been much non-stop ESPN emphasis on this NFL draft. One might argue too much. But it will be an interesting evening. I will say this quarterback-wise: other than Lock, I am not sure that i would spend an early first round pick on any of this year's crew of qbs. Next year's batch is much, m...

Re: Johnny Juzang?

His brother is a good player for Harvard.

to be an "impact freshman", he must be significantly better than his brother. That is not an insult to his brother - he is a very good player. But he only played in 11 games as a freshman and broke into the main lineup as a soph.

good call

Word on the street is that he did sign. That is very good news. that takes a lot of the pg pressure off. Still need one more eligible pg to play next year in my opinion - in case of injury or foul trouble. The staff does seem to be hard at it - which is also good. 2019 success will set a big tone fo...

Re: Trust, faith and nice guys

I have seen talk that we had a 2 come in - and that we are pursuing a transfer who will not likely be eligible this year. I have seen him play, as I follow the Ivies a little - and he is very good, but not "the answer." Cressler was very good too - and did help us once he became acclimated. We are g...

Trust, faith and nice guys

I am getting concerned that history is threatening to repeat itself. CJS has an excuse - as he was not here to witness history last year - but we do not have enough point guards on the roster. I like Lee more than most on the board. But what if he gets hurt? We literally have nobody. And it would be...

Two Way Street

I get it in both directions. Player has to be comfortable. Coach has to find point guards who can play right away. I am hopeful that Grace is on it. I like Lee a lot - but we could use 2 pgs if we can find them. And i’d Be happy if Pippen were one of them - he might even be better off if not needed ...

Re: Simi Shittu

He is probably the one player with the most to gain by coming back. He will be playing in Turkey, I suspect, if he does not. I do not see him getting drafted - and the first round would be a real reach. Second round would be G league, probably. But he has a lot of developing to do with footwork and ...
