Re: Forum change: from "likes" to "thanks"

Well, I tried to thank someone to test it out and I got an "Invalid Thank" message. Maybe it knew I was just testing it and didn't really mean it?

This is the way I look at it. They could hire hundreds of security people for less than $250,000.

Well, XP's are longer in the NFL, but sure, a pro kicker should almost never miss.

Re: NIL GONE WILD

I think NIL is going self-regulate to a certain extent in a couple of years when it starts hitting boosters that it's a never-ending money suck. In order to maintain these types of "salaries," the big donations are necessary every year. They're not a one-time thing. Sure, NIL is here to st...

Re: Military Bowl...Duke vs. UCF

VUDU makes some good points, although I would argue that some of the bowl games are not "rewards" for the players on teams that go 6-6 or 5-7, but rather "Sentences" that they have to serve during the holiday season when they would rather be at home. I don't think Vanderbilt pla...

Re: Military Bowl...Duke vs. UCF

I don't agree with or understand why people call for cutting the number of bowls. First of all, they're mainly there for TV purposes as college football is ESPN's biggest ratings draw after the NFL. The in-person attendance is sort of not really important. I think just about all of the bowls, even t...

Re: OT: Possible national changes in football recruiting procedures

Getting back to the original question, I could see how changing the HS recruit signing date could possibly hurt, rather than help, HS recruits. If schools can wait until after the transfer portal has sort of cleared, some schools may decide that they did well enough in the portal that they don't nee...

Re: OT: Possible national changes in football recruiting procedures

So the not having to sit out a year when transferring was implemented because of Covid? I think that's right. So why don't they just go back to that rule? I guess it's hard to close Pandora's box now, but it sure would solve the problem, I believe. I honestly don't think it would be unfair because n...

Re: Are we going after any of the QBs in Portal? Should we?

No decent QB will transfer here unless they think they have a fair shot at competing for the starting position. Who would transfer in knowing they're second or third team at best? If the staff is all-in with AJ Swann as the starter, as they seem to be, we can't expect another QB to transfer in.

Re: Mike Wright in the transfer portal

Let's be honest here. Why wouldn't Ken Seals transfer, too? He didn't get to play one single down this year. Certainly, redshirting this year doesn't do him any good if all it means is that he's going to be AJ Swann's backup for the next 3 years. I've talked to my son about this a lot. If you're a ...

Re: 6-1 Tulane ranked 25 in both polls

My understanding of the original post was that it was comparing Tulane's 6-1 record to where VU stands today. Even acknowledging the original post noted that it "is a lot easier to be 6-1 in the AAC" I do not think the comparison is fair to what CCL and company have faced. That's all. OK,...

Re: 6-1 Tulane ranked 25 in both polls

I do not believe for one nanosecond that Tulane's schedule would be better than 3-4 had they played the same schedule Vandy has played to date. And it may well be 2-5 with a loss at NIU. Why are you comparing their schedule to ours? They're ranked 25th, so I'm pretty sure they would've lost to 3 to...

Re: 6-1 Tulane ranked 25 in both polls

They beat Kansas State @ Kansas State. That's K State's only loss so far this season. They also beat Houston @ Houston. Just because they played UMass and Alcorn, which brings down their SOS, doesn't mean their entire schedule is horrible.

Yes. I was there.
I was there, too. What a great day.

Game wasn't even as close as the score indicated. We were ahead 30-13 when Alabama made a meaningless late TD and 2-point conversion.
