The recent success of Kirby Smart’s group has led to some major wins with players committing to a college future in Athens and Smart has landed another big-time prospect this week in Dillard (Fort Lauderdale, FL) cornerback Antione Jackson.

Jackson is a member of the recruiting class of 2024 and the 6-foot, 170 pounder is exactly the type of athlete that Smart likes to go for. Jackson is very highly rated by the 247Sports Composite Rankings, which is another reason Smart was looking to lock in a pledge early. Jackson is rated as a 4-star prospect as the No. 43 player in the class, the No. 6 cornerback, and the No. 16 player in the state of Florida. He committed to Georgia over a number of other offers including Florida, Florida State, and Auburn.

As you can see in the video below, Jackson’s sophomore highlights are very impressive. The first play is all about instincts and the ability to make a play after an interception. The second play, however, is much more impressive. Jackson is playing off-coverage and reading the eyes and body language of the quarterback while watching his man using his peripheral vision. As soon as the quarterback steps into his throw, Jackson breaks towards the spot he knows the ball is going to be thrown. He essentially beats the receiver on a route he doesn’t even know is coming to get into position to make an interception.

It is high-level stuff and you see it a lot in this video. Jackson has both excellent instincts and an understanding of the game that is rare in a player of his age. He has the potential to be a cornerstone piece in the Georgia secondary.
