Challenges for Ole Miss
In 2018 Memphis finished with an 8-6 record. The Tigers made it to the AAC Championship game where they fell 56-41 to a very good Central Florida team. The Tigers then played in the Birmingham Bowl where they fell to Wake Forest 37-34. The Tigers return 6 starters on offense and 8 starters on defense. The Tigers will likely start Arizona State transfer Brady White who passed for over 3,200 yards and 26 touchdowns last season as a Sun Devil. The Tigers return a 1,000 rusher from last season in senior Patrick Taylor. Damonte Coxie, the team’s top receiver (72 catches) is also back. Memphis’ top tackler from a year ago is gone but the next 9 best tacklers from a year ago are back.
This is a rivalry game. Ole Miss and Memphis are only about 85 miles from each other. Lots of Ole Miss fans live in Memphis so this makes the game-high pressure. The biggest challenge for Ole Miss is for the Rebel defense, returning 10 starters, to show that they have grown up some and will not be giving up boatloads of offense to opponents.
Saturday‘s game kicks off at 11:00 AM CT (12:00 PM ET). Watch on the ABC network.
