Challenges for LSU
Georgia Southern had a wonderful season in 2018, finishing 10-3 and winning the Camellia Bowl. This came off a horrendous 2017 season where the Eagles finished 2-10. This season football analyst Phil Steele predicts the Eagles to be an even better football team but that may not correlate to wins because of a more difficult schedule for ’19. LSU is likely a key reason for that supposed tougher schedule but keep in mind that the Eagles played at Clemson in ’18 (38-7 loss). The Eagles return their top rusher, top passer and 3 of 4 top receivers but keep in mind that they don’t pass much because they run the option.
The challenge for LSU is to stop the option. You can be the biggest, meanest, fastest football player but if you can’t stop the option you are in trouble. Look at Oklahoma last year with their 28-21 win over Army in overtime. They barely escaped with a win.
Saturday‘s game kicks off at 6:30 PM CT (7:30 PM ET). Watch on the ESPNU network.
