For those who might care (Mike Wright)...

Wright appeared to be the second-team QB (to Will Rogers) in Mississippi State's spring game. He QB'd one of the two squads, and his team lost to the Rogers-led team 17-7. Wright had a 2-yard run for his team's only score.

It remains to be seen how much PT Wright can get this year behind the solid starter Will Rogers, who is a much better passer. However: he's been known to flourish in situational roles at Vandy; and despite all that Rogers has accomplished at State, Wright will be one play away from starting.

Vandy does not play MSU this season.

My bet is that he will be used situationally / in packages designed for him… exactly how Vanderbilt should have utilized him (as opposed to having any quarterback as an entrenched hell-or-high water starter).

Quarterback competitions should only happen if two quarterbacks have the same skill set. If you have both Chris Leak and Tim Tebow on your roster… you play them both and design your offense around both of them.
