Vandy Offers Ava Black
Ava Black is posting on her Twitter that she has an offer from Vanderbilt. Ava is a 5'11" guard (class '24) at Tabor Academy in Massachusetts. She plays AAU for the Bay State Jaguars. On a personal note, I coach AAU for the Jaguars and have had the opportunity to be in the gym a lot with her and to see her play many games. She's a great shooter and mentally tough. Awesome person too.

Great news. It goes without saying that we expect you to deliver her to West End where she belongs. (By the way, I love that name: Ava Jaye Black).
Since she's starting her sophomore year, wouldn't that make her a class of '25 recruit? It gets confusing for me as they progress year to year in high school.

Yes MikeADore, she’s a ‘25. I’ll do my best to get her to VU. She’s receiving offers from almost every D1 school in the northeast and so many more from all over the country. Interestingly enough VU (pre Coach Ralph) offered another one of our players several years ago: Shaye Bollin. Shaye went to Duke this year but had Vandy on her final list.

Re: Vandy Offers Ava Black
If she follows the usual pattern, I'd say next summer or even the summer after. She's just starting her sophomore year of high school, and a lot good players seem to commit the summer before their senior year. Once in a while, you'll find a player that falls in love with a school and commits early to insure they get a spot. The "getting a spot" is trickier these days with so many transfers filling rosters, though Vandy seems to be going lightly on the transfer stuff.
I'm not worried about Ava Jaye. VandyJim is going to bring her home for us.

Ava Jaye Black (my favorite name of all our recruits) will announce her commitment next Monday for the class of '25. She has a very long list of offers (34) including Ivies Princeton, Columbia, Harvard, Yale along with Villanova, Marquette and tons of other eastern and midwestern schools.
Going out on a limb here: I think she's coming to Vandy.

It's always a good idea to have someone (else) to blame... for just about every situation in life-

I know, but fame and fortune are beyond my reach these days, and a man still needs dreams. Is one little recruit too much to ask?
