Ends as the MVP of the NCAA tournament, SEC POY, 2 NCAA finals, closed out the program's first National Title as a Freshman. It goes on and on. It's really hard to think of a single athlete who had more success individually and as the leader on a championship teams.
I can't think of anyone who can match that resume, and by all accounts she is a first rate person.
Where does Sharma rank among all-time VU athletes?

She is so dominating, she appears to lose focus sometimes when she is overwhelming her opponent. It’s been a joy to watch her during her career and feel she has a promising future as a pro where she can devote her efforts to the game full time.

The only VU athlete who even comes close to Sharma individually is indoor/outdoor hurdler Ryan Tolbert.
Sharma still has NCAA individuals and doubles too so hopefully she can add some more hardware.

I'd have to go with Josie Earnest. NCAA MVP for our first-ever national championship in the 2007 bowling finals. First NCAA bowler to be named Player of the Year twice. Academic All-American.

I’d have to go with Sharma....she won MVP as a freshman, when we won the National title and was MVP again this year, although we were runner-up. Clutch player on the big stage!!

Her coach, Jeff MacDonald, said yesterday in the press conference she is the best athlete he has ever coached and he thinks the best Vanderbilt has ever had. Because of her and her leadership we went to the final 4 for 4 straight years. Watch the post-match video at vucommodores.com

David Price? Does he get bonus points for his post-season heroics as a rookie? Or for going on to win a Cy Young?
I know that is post-Vanderbilt, but David Price going on to win the Cy Young would sort of be the equivalent of Sharma going on to win a Grand Slam Title in the future, no?

Astra Sharma just upset Former top player, Vera Zvonereva, in the Australian Open Qualies today. She has a great chance to qualify as Vera was the #1 In Qualies!
