HIs decision to transfer kind of makes sense, if you think about it. He could either stay at Vandy and be the backup for A.J. Swann for the next 2-3 years or... yes, he's likely to play behind Will Rogers this season, but if he doesn't play in more than four games, he could redshirt, and then have two seasons left to (hopefully) be the starter. You also have the chance to play in a sophisticated offensive system under a coach who is very QB-oriented.

By the time Rogers is gone, they'll have someone else. Given that T.J. got knocked out of the last three games he played, Mike probably would have seen more snaps here than at MSU.

This is probably not what he wants to hear, but if he does understudy Rogers next year and can't win the starting job in 2024 he should think about a position change. He is an NFL level athletic talent. Maybe he can do that at QB - but if he can't win the starting job at Miss St as an upperclassman transfer with previous starting experience AND being in that system for a year to prepare, he's not going to be an NFL QB. He'd still have two years to try another position and if he has any interest in pro football whatsoever, this would be his best move.

It's what he should have done three years ago. It's already late.

He’s a good kid. Wish him much success (except against VU).

Frankly we could easily have used him—a mobile QB with our pass protection over the years is a no brainer—but not clear to me that he demonstrated that QB is his best position. A flanker or something similar makes more sense to me. And yes I’m simply an old fan with honestly little insight so, who knows maybe the QB thing works out for him at MSU. He certainly has every right to try to live his dream.
