A shame, and a bit of a mystery. He had worked his way up the depth chart, and it didn't seem like he was going to have any trouble getting playing time this fall.

Mystery? Nah. Worked his way into a starting role and was able to parlay it (or get poached) into NIL $.
The reminders of how virtually unbearable college athletics as a whole are nowadays are becoming more and more frequent.
Re: CB Ja'Dais Richard in the portal
Is there a timeframe on the portal? I haven't been keeping track of it, but figured it would stop before spring practices came around. If it continues after spring practices, it seems like players can gauge their likelihood of winning the starting job/a good deal of playing time and then transfer if they aren't happy with the result.
This raises another question, can other teams and NIL people from other teams reach out to players? If so, there seems a disadvantage to broadcasting spring games especially for a team like Vanderbilt and smaller conference schools. It is essentially showcasing players for others teams to recruit.

Like the rest of the portal hoppers, I wish him nothing but the worst. Hope he gets stuck on the sideline watching other better players play or he plays for a D2 team

The spring football portal closes this weekend, on April 30. Remember, this is the second window of the academic year for football players. The first one opened December 5 and closed January 18.Dores137 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 7:25 pm Is there a timeframe on the portal? And to answer your second question, legally, not before they enter the portal. But it is happening every day with reckless abandon.

College sports are going downhill fast! The portal and NIL are turning them into a huge free agency market with no loyalty to your school and a seemingly low priority on your degree. One of the things I love about college sports is getting to know the kids on your team and cheering for them. Pretty soon we'll have new rosters every year. Already do in basketball. So sad.

Wonder if he is headed to Colorado? Could be some appeal for CB to play for coach Prime and several other big names headed there. Less than classy to kick 60% of you players out the door, but if school can fire a coach after 1 year then I guess coach can’t wait

Definitely NIL related then. They're handing out the dollars like lollipops down there.
