The portal is open March 14 through May 12. That doesn't mean you have to sign with another team by May 12, only that you must enter the portal by that date in order to get the one-time transfer exception.
Seems like odd timing to me. The selection show for the NCAA tourney is March 12, then two days later the portal opens. So you could have teams preparing for the tournament with some members announcing they're entering the portal and leaving. They could have pushed it back about three weeks and had the season over before the portal opened. I'm sure they have their reasons for doing it this way. Either way, players get 60 days to enter the portal and get the one-time exception to transfer without sitting out a year.
We know Amauri Williams will be in the portal from Vandy. Not sure about our seniors, Demi Washington and Yaubryon Chambers. No one in the media has bothered to ask. No surprise. The Tennessean didn't even have a story about our senior day win over Kentucky.
