Titans history on MNF

The Titans play a big Monday Night game against the Cowboys tomorrow, and at least history has been on their side.

The Titans are 11-5 on MNF, and they are on a 5-1 streak, including a big win over the Colts last year.

The Titans are 4-0 against NFC teams, three of those wins on the road.

One of those was a 31-0 win against the Cowboys in Nashville on Christmas Day, 2000. That was also the last time the Titans shut out an opponent. It sealed home field advantage for the Titans (though they failed against the Ravens a few weeks later).

The Cowboys are 3-0 at home this year (0-4 on the road), and they have do have the #2 scoring defense. The Titans have the #3 scoring defense. Both teams are in the lower third in the league in scoring offense, so expect a tight low-scoring game.

They could have had Amari Cooper by simply trading a draft pick for him. That was too simple. They had to try to complicate things by adding "strings attached" and they screwed it up and lost him.

That was soooooooooo Jeff Fisher of them.

The Titans receivers had a terrific game, showing they didn't need to burn a first round pick on Cooper. Cooper is still a strong player, but no way would I give up a first for him (especially with the draft in Nashville).

28-14, continuing their dominance over the NFC on MNF. Despite the terrible first two drives, they came together to play terrific offense and defense. Mariota was incredible tonight, converting third down after third down with his arm and legs.

They needed this win badly with the Texans still winning and the Patriots coming to town Sunday. 4-4 is so much better than 3-5.
