Re: UF time?
I'm going to guess 11am. Get used to that time slot. Taking at peek at the Oct 9 slate: The 2:30 CBS slot will go to either Bama at TAM or UGA at Aub. The other of those will be an evening game. Also, you have Arkansas at Ole Ms and LSU at UK, both with far more national appeal, so I'd bet that's yo...

Re: So how do we recruit?
We can recruit on Stanford's level if we have the right coaches recruiting. Let's just say that wasn't Mason's strength.

Re: Verdict on the new coach
No way to take any sort of positive from the ETSU fiasco, but the last two weeks have shown growth. We played well at times vs Stanford as the stats will show, but we ultimately made too many mistakes and played our way out of that one. This week will be painful, and there will be more of those down...

Re: UT getting Nashville area recruiting commits
Don't discount what Vitello is doing over there. Baseball America's recruiting ranks came out last week and UT is #5. VU is #3, so Corbs isn't going away, but you can't deny UT's recruiting is right there with the elites.

I'm a fan of Ken Seals, but this piece is really damning of his ability to make the proper read.

Re: Mason 2.0 ?
Another problem of Mason was that he gave his OC and DC positions to his friends, not the best candidates for the jobs. This was especially true when Mason’s first OC was his longtime friend from Northern Arizona and he turned out to be totally inept. In fact, IIRC, he and his OC friend argued thro...

Re: It appears IT has left the program
This appears to be one of the oddest departures from the program that I can remember. I wish him the best and hope somebody can harness those loud tools that he has. His K/BB ratio kept him from being drafted, but there is upside that somebody will take. Our OF will be stacked, again, in 2022. Bradf...

Re: So... is Clark Lea the right man to resuscitate Vandy?
Pete, I somewhat disagree. I believe in Lea based on the reaction from the reaction around college football, but I don't think much will be learned early this year, and I think we're up against it all season. We were not competitive last year, and the roster is thinner than it has been in 15 years. ...

Corbin won't say anything until Kumar's camp does, and right now Kumar's camp is being led by Scott Boras. Boras will either go into next year's draft off of private workouts, or he may get a few starts with an Independent league and re-enter. I expect 30 teams (minus the Mets) will have a look at K...

Re: More details on upgrades unveiled
Slow progress is better than no progress. Soon we'll be clipping $60m+ per year from the SEC, so there is no excuse for not making major changes. Of course 15 others will be getting the same check, but it makes more of an impact on our overall budget than it does on theirs.

Re: Kumar and Leiter win Baseball America's Player, Freshman of the Year awards
Good for him. It's little consolation for the disappointments of the last two months, but I'm happy to see him recognized for the player he was and the season he had under the spotlight. One day, he'll be in the college baseball hall of fame.

Re: Bryan Reynolds
If Reynolds wasn't on the Pirates, he would be generating MVP buzz. That's how good his play has been according to the advanced metrics. Buehler is squarely in the mix for Cy. He is behind a couple of others, but the gap is shrinking and he has a real shot at leading the league in ERA and Wins. As a...

Re: Expectations
I expect a very well coached, disciplined group of young men that simply don't have the athleticism, size, speed, and experience to beat most SEC teams. Schematically, I expect a better offensive gameplan, and a defense that executes a gameplan, though both lack high level playmakers. I expect the c...

Re: It's official: Mets fail to sign Rocker...
I just hate it for this kid. I'm really worried that there is something that is a real problem with the medicals because teams don't just draft a guy #10 overall and back off unless there is something really wrong. Even if it is something that required TJ, there are plenty of cases like Walker Buehl...

Re: Value of a good catcher like C.J. is invaluable
CJ is the best defensive catcher we've ever had. Not only did he eliminate the run game, he was a MLB caliber receiver behind the plate. There was a stretch in the middle of the season when he was the toughest out in the lineup. He had a couple of really bad streaks at the plate, but he has a profes...

I hate losing CJ, but the draft could not have gone much better for Corbin. We basically have a position starter at every position except C and 3B coming back. Biggest headache is going to be managing the roster now.

Re: State fans threw beer on me and my son
For what it's worth, it was by far the most fun I had in Omaha outside from the stadium. I went to the restaurant right across from the stadium before and after Games 2/3 and met nothing but nice baseball fans. The kids were certainly fired up before the game, but everyone to a man was gracious afte...

So far only 3 commits are gone, and they were pretty much expected. Other schools have been hit harder than us, and this will be a top 3 class when all is said and done.

Re: Report: Dominic Keegan
The 11th round can be tricky as teams are now past the 1- round player pool and can pay up for guys. I feel for the guys, and I know they are probably disappointed, but they have another opportunity at VU and still have some leverage from the COVID ruling on eligibility.

Re: What will next year look like?
I have no insider info: but I would expect Vaz to come back and be a full-time contributor next year. He and Bradfield together will be a dynamic outfield. CJ is a hard call. He stayed in the dugout a long time when it was over. Either to soak in the feeling of a being a Vandy baseball player one l...
