Re: Lawrence
Question: In what particular areas does Lawrence need additional improvement to be an NBA prospect? He has decent size for a shooting guard at a listed 6' 4". He is explosive driving to the basket. As examples, does he need: More strength? To improve three point shooting? He's not explosive at...

Re: that sucked, but wasn't a complete surprise
Yep. This preseason mentality needs to end. Stack has shown he can develop players and improve as the season goes on. But he needs to get the team playing better earlier and to make sure we win the games we're supposed to win. It's still a subjective process and obviously they value the full body o...

Congrats to Dylan Disu
I don't know whether anyone noticed, but when #7 Texas beat #3 Kansas to win the Big-12 Championship last night, Dylan Disu was named the Tournament MVP. He's had a tough time since he transferred, with injuries, coaching changes, and inconsistent play. But I always liked him, never begrudged him tr...

Re: NCAA Tourney/Selection Thread
I just think everyone should keep one thing in mind: The committee hasn’t said anything. All of this talk is just people’s opinions. I think Lunardi is relying too much on the NET, just as he did last year when he was certain that Rutgers wouldn’t get in. The NET is one tool they use but there are o...

Eammon Brennan on VU
Eamonn Brennan was the columnist who originated the “Bubble Watch” format at ESPN before getting sacked in their big cutbacks a few years ago. He had an interesting bit on Vanderbilt basketball, our prospects, and people’s comments today in his version of “Bubble Watch” for The Athletic. It’s behind...

Re: LOL! Joe Lunardi says VU is not in the tournament when they are 12-7 in the SEC
It doesn't matter what Lunardi says the people below count and have to wonder if the Alabama guy and more important the UNC AD will push for us. UNC AD didn't hire Stack and would look real bad if we get in and they don't. (That's my conspiracy story and sticking to it.) Chris Reynolds AD equivalen...

Re: QMB announces he's returning next year
Guys, focus. We're alive in the SEC tournament, our next game is against the hated Kentucky Wildcats--whom we beat in Rupp this year--and if we beat them we're on the cusp of an NCAA at-large bid (and, of course, only two games from an automatic bid). Baseball will still be there on Monday (on its o...

Re: Bracketology
I note this not because Lunardi has any sort of crystal ball, but because he is the epitome of conventional thinking in terms of who is on the bubble and who is not. But he now has Vanderbilt in the next 4 out line, along with MIchigan, UNC and Oregon. This is an improvement over the "also con...

Re: OT: tshiebwe at AR today
Just a guess here, but could it be that they didn't lose at home to Grambling? Also the question about Arkansas has nothing to do with Vanderbilt. So I don’t understand why you would mention the Grambling loss. I’m legitimately interested why a team with a losing conference record has been consider...

Re: SECT Seeding?
Everything I see says miss state is still in the ncaa. Surely beating them gets us on the bubble. It's not that simple, of course, and I think we still have a lot of work to do. Because we beat Mississippi State at home, it doesn't help us as much as you'd think. It only moved us up from #84 to #82...

Late game on Thursday night. Get your tickets now. No reason not to be there. I live in England. I could buy a decent car for less than it would cost. But since I'm a music teacher... I'll have to be there in spirit. (But if anyone would like a free online lesson in how to project your voice more e...

Re: Stackhouse on 102.5 The Game: Robbins getting surgery, out for season
Liam is the best big in VU history IMO. I've not been around as long as many on the board. but since I attended VU in '01 he is by far the best big we have had on both ends. Um, "since '01" and "in VU history" are radically different things, particularly when discussing Vanderbi...

Starting to get noticed...
As others have pointed out, our victory at #23 Kentucky moved us up just one place in the NET. (Is it just me, or does it seem like they weigh Quad 4 losses more than Quad 1 wins? That's the only way that I can explain Utah State's position so far ahead of ours. But I digress...) And we still haven'...
