How many games will Alabama football win in 2018?

We will start our 2018 team by team predictions with a look at the reigning college football national champions, albeit because they are the first team in the SEC alphabetically. A quarterback question is the main talking point hanging over this team heading into fall camp, though a slew of new assistant coaches taking new roles also must be considered when predicting the early season games.

9/1/18 Louisville (in Orlando) – In 2017 this game would have been very interesting with Lamar Jackson taking on the Alabama defense. A first-year starting quarterback and nine new starts on defense, however, is going to make this a rough game for the Cardinals. Alabama 42, Louisville 10.

9/8/18 Arkansas State – Arkansas State is a better team than most think. Head coach Blake Anderson has turned this program around since his hire in 2013, but the Red Wolves 0-5 record against Power 5 teams under his stewardship tells its own story. Alabama 42, Arkansas State 7.

9/15/18 @ Ole Miss – Jordan Ta’amu is a talented pocket passer that will keep Ole Miss in every game they play this fall. Alabama crushed Mississippi by 63 points last year, but the score won’t be that embarrassing for the Rebels in 2018. Alabama 31, Ole Miss 24.

9/22/18 Texas A&M – Jimbo Fisher will have the Aggies competing at the national level before too long, but this year is going to be a learning one for the head coach as he returns to the SEC with no clear quarterback option. Alabama 35, Texas A&M 14.

9/29/18 Louisiana – Former Alabama assistant Billy Napier is the first-year head coach for a Ragin’ Cajuns program looking for its first winning season since 2014. Alabama 38, Louisiana 3.

10/6/18 @ Arkansas – With 10 straight wins in the series, Saban and Alabama have owned Arkansas for a decade. New head coach Chad Morris doesn’t yet have the pieces to make his up-tempo offense work as intended. Alabama 45, Arkansas 13.

10/13/18 Missouri – The Tigers first ever trip to Tuscaloosa will see Alabama face the first offense that will give them problems in a month. Drew Lock is the real deal and Missouri has the weapons to move the ball, though a coordinator change is a huge question mark. Alabama 35, Missouri 24.

10/20/18 @ Tennessee – The Vols bottomed out last year, losing eight games for the first time in program history. New coach Jeremy Pruitt has his work cut out for him to make an immediate improvement. Alabama 40, Tennessee 10.

11/3/18 @ LSU – The Tigers have now lost seven straight games in this series because they simply can’t find a way to score against Alabama.  That won’t change in 2018. Alabama 28, LSU 10.

11/10/18 Mississippi State – Joe Moorhead gets to start his Mississippi State reign with 18 returning starters and a potential stud at the quarterback position. It this game was in Starkville then it wouldn’t be out of the question that the Bulldogs could steal it. Alabama 27, Mississippi State 21.

11/17/18 The Citadel – Standard late season fair in the SEC. Nothing to see here. Alabama 59, Citadel 0.

11/24/18 Auburn – The Iron Bowl will once again decide the SEC West and it will (again) decide if Alabama is undefeated and heading to the SEC Championship. The difference between this year and last will be the ability of Tua Tagovailoa to throw the ball and keep the Auburn defense from stacking the box against the Alabama running game. Alabama 28, Auburn 14.
